D&D Pilates began operating almost ten years ago, in the areas of equipment, courses and services for the industry. Headquartered in Rio de Janeiro, the company has 90 employees. The teachers of D & D Pilates trained more than 2,000 students in 2009 alone. In order to provide the market with high quality products, the company also has its own manufacturing plant. The plant, which occupies an area of 3,000 mē in the city of Rio de Janeiro, is fully computerized and has a staff of 60 employees which all enjoy the use of their own dedicated Pilates Studio in the plant. In the past two years, more than 1,500 studios in Brazil and countries like Colombia, Spain, Angola and Turkey have been sold D&D equipment.
NEW LINE - EXCELLENCE
The Excellence line (our premium line) is built with teak (Tectona grandis - TECA), a tree native to the rainforests of Southeast Asia, and for as long as people have worked with wood has been one of the most valued woods in the world. Being easily worked it has great resistance to sun and rain over many years. This large tree can reach heights of over 50 meters (165 feet) and a diameter of 2.5 meters (over 8 feet). Easy to grow and with rapid growth, the TECA is a natural old wood and as such is not susceptible to pests and diseases.
The Technical Information
The wood of TECA has high market value due to its unique properties:
Weight and strength - with an average density of 0.65 g/cm3, wood is considered mild, but tough;
Stability and durability - it warps and shrinks little during drying; is immune to attack by termites and other insects;
It can be buried or exposed to time without deteriorating; aesthetics and adaptability - easy to work, looks attractive;
It is used in the production of furniture, window frames and floors of quality, decoration and construction industry;
It has a cost-benefit excellent, reaching U.S. $800.00 / m3 of logs which is much higher than the slow growing native mahogany which does not exceed U.S. $ 300.00 / m3 in the same condition. From a wood suppliers point of view this makes TECA a more cost effective option than destroying natural forests;
Due to its prevention of the exhaustion of quality wood from the natural forest, it has found a broad market and the growth trend. The great global consumption of wood from TECA plantations confirms its quality and acceptance.

The reforestation of TECA is not new: it has been practiced for over 100 years in Southeast Asia, covering about 2.5 million hectares. Brazil has large areas suitable for planting TECA, in contrast to the traditional growing regions, which face scarcity of land for expansion of reforestation.

The Excellence line uses Flexible PU Foam - D120 (D-density), which has strength, comfort and impeccable finishes. It is used by D&D Pilates, luxury cars and high-design furniture in the latest equipment, finishing and upholstery.
The Excellence line uses Line Fact / Dunes - PVC coating applied over the reinforcement fabric and finished with polyurethane. This method is used in high design and fine furniture vinyl finishes.
